made some tiny changes to the MMuscle hda. i had moved things around and removing control points was not reflected in the viewport the way it was supposed to.

Here is a simple test scene and the HDA:s needed. It would be awesome if you tried it out. Would love to hear what yall think.
the attached scene uses the muscle layering feature to let you parent one muscle to the surface of another.

for anyone who cares: I updated the type annotation stubs for Houdini for 20.5: pypi.org/project/types-houdini/ Should be a lot easier to maintain now.

put it in your python3.11libs folder. (make sure it is called ready.py. that makes houdini run it when it is supposed to)

Why i made my own? No real reason. It is fast and has very few options.
I was mostly trying to learn
playing with something called laplacian blend.
it is a really nice way of blending two textures where high and low frequencies in the image are blended at different mip levels so that things blend into oneanother in a really pleasing way.
as you can see there is none of the ghosting that an ordinary soft masks gives you.
it does a really nice job of blending heightfields. you can see that there is no loss of high frequency data and yet there is no discontinuity in height.
try it yourself!

I discovered that you can use pane.setSplitFraction() and you need to call it on the python panels “resize” event, then you can ovveride whatever automatic resizing that takes places, in case anyone else runs into the same thing!
not as elegant but might work?
